Just back from seeing “Detective Dee and the Mystery of the Phantom Flame” at the LA Film Fest, along with the crew from Visual Communications!  “Detective Dee” is a flick from Hong Kong that combines mystery, action and an ancient setting.  To be brief: Around 600 AD in China, the empress calls on Dee to discover why officials have been burning up and dying.  He breaks out some intense yet graceful martial arts skills to reveal the true identities of his foes, solving the mystery.  The empress escapes death-by-flame and, to thank Dee, rules the empire with just and humanity. Phew.
